Equine Artistry Exhibit at RAAC

            For the first time, the Breeders' Cup is coming to the heart of the breeding industry and our beloved Bluegrass state where the very idea of the Breeders’ Cup was conceived. October 30 and 31, 2015 all eyes will be on Keeneland as the top thoroughbred horses from around the world descend on Lexington to determine who is the best of the best.

            The Richmond Area Arts Council is celebrating the 2015 Breeders' Cup World Championships with an Art Exhibit entitled Equine Artistry.  This outstanding exhibit will feature horse themed artwork by Larry Frost, Lloyd Alvis Agee, Kelly Hoke, J & K Kreations (Kim and Jerry Owens), Dacelle Peckler, David Hufford, Janice Luxon, Judy Ridings, Jo Ann Carnes Park, Mike Park, Jonathan Clark and Jeff  Enge. The artwork of these artists will cover a wide range of genres.

            The exhibit will be open for viewing 9:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday, October 15-December 31at the Richmond Area Arts Center, 399 W. Water Street.  The Opening Reception will be Friday, October 16, 5:00-7:00pm at the Arts Center. An Artist Talk will be held at 6:00pm.  Many of these fine pieces of art will be for sale.

Military Experience and Arts Symposium

Three Day Event Scheduled July 5 -7

Military Experience and Arts Symposium at EKU

Eastern Kentucky University will be hosting the Military Experience and Arts Symposium on July 5 -7.

Military veterans from all over the U.S. will be gathering to participate in three days of workshops and events designed to provide an opportunity for veterans to tell their stories.

Throughout the symposium there will be free events open to the public.

There will a thirty piece art exhibit that tells the stories of war within Iraq and Afghanistan on displayed in the EKU Powell Student Center each day beginning at 9:00 a.m.

On July 5th at 5:30 p. m. in the Keen Johnson Ballroom “The Journal of Military Experience, Volume 2” will be released followed by public readings from the book.

In the Ravine on July 6th at 6:30 p.m. there will be color guard show and a dance performance by the Exit 12 Dance Company.

On July 7th at 5:30 p.m. there will be a theatrical performance by SNAPSHOT being held in the Student Success Building auditorium.
